Caring for Peace

Through this strand of research, I examine how caregiving, inclusive economies, and peacebuilding intersect.  Drawing on feminist political economy and everyday peace studies, I aim to elevate care policies and infrastructure, including community-based security mechanisms, as critical strategies for building and sustaining peace.

This focus area includes research with Chiara Chiavaroli on how violence and its long-term legacies affect caregiving experiences and coping strategies in conflict and post-conflict settings.  I have also contributed to  research and policy guidance on addressing gender dynamics and care during crisis and conflict, including "What We Have Lost in The War: The Economic Impact of the Sudan Conflict on Women" for the Strategic Initiative for Women in the Horn of Africa, led by Shared Planet, and UN Women's Expert Group Meeting and Guidance Notes on "Care in Times of Crisis and Conflict".
